Let’s talk about the 5 main female body types and the characteristics of each first:

1. Inverted triangle:

• Broad shoulders and bust, with hips narrower than the shoulders.

• Often have a well-defined waistline.

• Weight gain is more noticeable in the upper body and bust area.

2. Rectangle: a straight figure with little definition in the waist.

• Bust, waist, and hips have similar measurements, creating a straight up-and-down silhouette.

• Little waist definition and weight gain is distributed evenly throughout the body.

• Often have an athletic or slender frame.

3. Apple: weight is carried mostly in the midsection

• Fullness is mainly in the midsection with a less defined waist.

• Bust is often larger and more prominent compared to the hips.

• Weight gain tends to concentrate around the abdomen and upper body.

4. Hourglass:

• Bust and hips are relatively balanced with a well-defined waist.

• Curvy and proportional silhouette, with the hips and bust measuring similar or close in size.

• Weight gain tends to distribute evenly throughout the body

5. Pear:

• Hips are wider than the bust, and the waist is well-defined.

• The neckline of an outfit changes the look entirely, whether you realize it or not. V-necklines are something to favor when you have a goal of looking slimmer, as they provide a lengthening effect to the chest and torso area of the body that gives the illusion of a slimmer body.

• Focus on fit. Clothes that fit well will make you look and feel your best. So, take the time to find clothes that are the right size and that flatter your figure, be ok to size up to get a better fit!

• Don't be afraid to dress up. Just because you're over 50 doesn't mean you can't wear heels or a dress. In fact, dressing up can be a great way to boost your confidence and feel more attractive.

• Accessorize wisely. The right accessories can add great style to your outfit, caution: less is more, if the pieces are big!
